Yes
Hi, I noticed something on my photographs while out today.

I used two lenses and it's on photographs with and without filters; also in landscape and portrait orientation.

I'm hoping it's just a smear on the sensor after cleaning and not damage to the sensor.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards.

please tell me your not blowing into the sensor chamber :( (directly with your mouth)

just buy some visible dust from Wex give it a quick wet clean, it looks like a smear of something on the sensor...

It should be pretty hard to do that - there's a glass IR/AA filter on top.

Did very similar to my D200 some years back and thought it was bu99ered. A going over with a SensorKlear pen disposed of the smear.

And I thought it was a flock of seagulls

There are a lot of other spots considering it was cleaned a week ago, it's not one of the Nikons with the oil spatter problems is it???

its probably too much fluid on your swabs thats caused the smear.
I tend to use RED top first which gets rid of grease and smears, then i switch to the more water based stuff BLUE top to get rid of any smear marks. That same mark i nearly always get in the corners when you sweep back... Just use the fluid more sparingly :)

Hi Andy I've just watched a couple of videos on youtube and most are rubbish. giving incorrect methods etc. so while i cannot make a video i would suggest this method.

1. ensure you have a fully charged battery
2. keep the area you intend to clean your camera clear of everything not involved in the cleaning process.
3. open your camera using the menus for image sensor cleaning. ( I know you already know how to do this its for anyone else who may read this)
4.get you cleaning wipes and add a few drops of cleaning fluid to the tip.
5. wipe in a single direction in a single continuous stroke. repeat several times, if you can still see dust spots or marks.
6.then dry wipe with a clean tip to take away any residual wetness.
after that and before you finish take a look inside in good light to see if you have missed anything.
and finally take a test shot at f16 on a blank piece of white paper, and blow up the shot using the preview on your camera to check for anything you may have missed.

Hope that helps. A new cleaning kit is cheaper than any so called professional clean. good luck, Mike.

Cheers, Mike, just went to get my wet cleaning kit and the blooming fluid has evaporated again, I have about 40 swabs and no fluid.

I'd better order some..

Appreciate the post

http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-visible-dust-1-0x-orange-vswabs-12-pack-/p1028077 i use these swabs bare in mind 1.0x means Full Frame or FX, 1.5 and 1.6 are APSC. However note that a FF swab will clean an APSC sensor if you go top to botton and not left to right :), so 1.0x kinda does both :)

I clean an A7Rii with them as there dust magnets and a D500...

http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-visible-dust-smear-away-7-5ml/p1011960 this is for Smears

http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-visible-dust-vdust-plus/p1013217 for the final touch.

This is the second bottle that has dried out. Top was firmly closed.

I used a Neewer cleaning rod and sensor is now free of the steak :)

Ordered some more cleaning fluid as well.

Cheers all, appreciate the assistance

well if your going to eat your dinner off of it what do you expect ;)

Yes, but this glass is coated and that coating is quite easy to scratch. Not with a swap itself, but with some hard dust particles on that swap for example. So just pull that swap in one direction and never use them twice!
