Sensor cleaning with air?

I seem to have picked up some crud on my sensor, I don't have a specialist sensor cleaning kit, but do have a can of Kenair. Is it ok to blast the sensor with that, or would it be too powerful?

No you are likely to spray propellant onto the sensor, just use a rocket blower bulb, and the D700 sensor cleaning function.
 
Definately not - you've no idea what you could be blasting onto it.
 
Look on the bright side, if you get a rocket blower you can play with it (when no ones watching) too! :lol:
 
Yeah, going shopping at this time of year is horrible. Wouldn't say I enjoy it time of the year mind you!

If you have a Jessops near you I'd recommend picking up this kit. If the blower doesn't remove the dust, the pen certainly will. Good for numerous cleans to so superb value for money IMO.
 
Or pop over to the Traders section on here and get sensor swabs off Flash in the pan for £14.60 for 6 ;)
 
Awesome, I've just hatched a cunning plan :naughty: Mrs Treeman is on her way shopping to get my pressie, so I just went online ordered a lens pen from Jessops and reserved for instore collection, by the mrs, how cool is that :clap:
 
Is the LENS pen really what you need to clean a Sensor? I'm just making sure as i'm not totally clued up on sensor cleaning
 
What you need is the LensPen SensorKlear rather than the full sized LensPen (or even the smaller LensPens designed for compacts' lenses). Not sure if the actual cleaning stuff is different but the tip of the SensorKlear is shaped to allow it to get right into the corners of the sensor.
 
Assuming you got the one I linked you'll be fine.

They do make one for cleaning lenses which has a larger (round) tip which won't be any good for the sensor...
