So what did you sell? What was the description? And what is the buyer now claiming? Without all those details in full there is no answer anyone where can offer without it being a total guess

this is a copy of the add Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 Dg macro for Nikon camera's

Including both end caps hood and box

Lens protected by Hoya pro1 58 mm mc protector

and they were claiming it wasn't what they thought it was

If it was described correctly, that's tough. Buyer's problem.

Do the distance selling regulations not count then, or is that just for items you buy from a shop?

Just asking.

DSR would only count in a business to individual transaction this doesn't sound like that and I'm not sure that DSR applies to used gear either

Private sale. Description was accurate.
Perhaps the buyer will learn a lesson.

Hard luck, I'd go as far as saying perhaps the buyer is trying to swap their own faulty one for your working one

Not sure if I am mistaken but, you were looking for a 70-300 at the end of last Month and you sold one this Month, what was the matter with it then?

What did they think it was, and were expecting?

I must be in the minority as I sell quite a bit of stuff on ebay. IF the buyer isn't happy for whatever reason I will always give them there money back - Its just me I suppose. If I sell something, I do want the buyer to be happy.

I do too, but seriously, you'll refund just because it's not what they thought it was? When the description was accurate? Sorry, but I don't do above and beyond.

yip i would ask them to go into more detail as to the (not what they thought it was) part sound like they were thinking it was going to be a wow lens it was not living up to that for them if thats the case then you have not done any thing wrong they should have done there home work more

Who takes the hit for postage?

there was nothing wrong with it i was just upgrading

after less than a month ? (you hadn't yet bought it on 26/7) - that's a hell of a quick upgrade

did you upgrade to the 55-200 vr you were thinking about buying 2 days ago ?

If you had an image of it up then it was pretty clear what they where getting, personally I wouldn't refund unless it was faulty/damaged.

Postage wise its buyer who has to cover return costs/liability
