As anyone sold to camera world or MPB?

I want to sell all my gear in bulk if possible.

Have sold to MPB in the past but not in a good while as they have found W.E.X to often offer better pricing. Also found dealing in store with W.E.X to be less hassle as well.

Sold to both, quick and easy, you just need to be honest about the condition of your equipment. I've also sold to Harrison Cameras, Camera Jungle, Parks, Castles and WEX all with no hassle. I shop around as sometimes one will give a much better price than the others.

I also used Ffordes. Had a bunch of stuff, emailed them a list& condition, they gave an indication on price. I was passing them on way to Harris dropped stuff in, they reviewed and finalised offer with trade in, cash sale and recommended commision sale price. I took a mix of all 3. Very helpful service and the commision sale is great option

Wex gave me a quote for a lens and then lowered it when they got it. I look after my kit and I couldn't see a mark on it and even the box was pristine. When I posted about this at the time other forumers said they'd had similar happen. I think it's maybe worthwhile getting a couple of quotes and if a shop seems to be gouging you just get the kit back and try somewhere else.

I have used MPB extensively in the past, and been satisfied. However, of late I have been using LCE. Harrison Cameras have also given good prices. Park Cameras have been abysmally low. Wilkinsons variable - some very good, some less so.

Wilkinsons check their inventory before offering prices, so if they already ahve a number of those items within their s/h stock then they will price accordingly, I'm sure there is an element of this with all retailers (especially the smaller ones)

Another one to add the mix is LCE, especially if they have a branch local to you - as with this sort of thing it is easier dealing face to face.

As I stated above, I have had some very good deals from them. Only trouble is they have no stores anywhere near me so I have to "go postal". In fact, the nearest camera shop is Wilkinsons in Kendal, some 45 minutes away.

Sold to MPB a few times, hassle free and the price you get can go up as well as down from the quote.

If you want money quickly, or to trade in, it can be the best bet. But you’ll get a better price putting the effort in to sell privately.

I've sold a number of items to CameraWorld in the past, the west end shop. But a few years ago now, before they moved across the road. Different staff now (?). Always was good, no nonsense. You need to take ID.

Sold to MPB recently. Usually a decent experience, recently they've upgraded prices slightly once they've received the goods

I sold an EM5mk2 to MPB recently and the price wasn't great - quite a bit less than they'd offered me for it a few months ago. I was hoping/expecting to get a slightly better deal when they saw the item but didn't. However the sale process was very easy.
Sometimes it works the other way -I have had quotes, then asked for another quote a few week later and the price has risen, As @Mr Perceptive says, its down to supply and demand.

I've had this too, presumably down to supply and demand - quote expires and a refreshed quote is higher - it's just a timing thing

Was hoping for more than they offered to be honest.

The cheapest excellent 5d MkIV on their website is for sale at £1059 so they do take a pretty good cut on the transaction.
I don't see much incentive in trading either.

Given that MPB have 94 of them (and they are only one seller), there is obviously not much of a market for this body at the moment (not that its a bad camera far from it) - so if I was in that business I would make an offer based on the fact that its likely to be on the shelf for some time, and during that period I will almost certainly have to mark the price down.

There is also a VAT element (VAT margin scheme) so a sixth of the difference between what MPB sell it for and what they buy it for will be handed to HMRC

Cameraworld look like they are testing the water for the 5DIV market price point with a 5DIV Managers special - Excellent condition body for £909

Remember, they have to make a profit, and offer a warranty. If they didn't make a profit they wouldn't exist.

In business when 'buying in' there is always the "cash to cash" period i.e. depending on what the business pays for it's goods they need to factor in how long that money will be tied up! If they can be pretty sure of it happening quickly they can justify accepting a lower profit (paying more for the goods) compared to if the goods sit on the shelf for say 6 - 18 months.

MPB offered a simple process with a fair price and fast payment. Camera World was also professional, but their price was slightly lower. If you want to sell all your gear in bulk, both options are reliable. By the way, I recently came across a site listing different payment methods and casino games. I often look for payment methods there https://uk.notgamstop.com/casino-games/ so you might be interested. In terms of sales, MPB might be more suitable for bulk sales, but it's worth getting quotes from both.
MPB stock suggests low demand, so negotiating a lower price makes sense!
