hi guys and girls

Quick question.

I recently took a picture of Edinburgh Castle and got it printed for my mum. It look great framed and sitting on the wall.

Some freinds were over on Boxing day and have asked me to get them a copy.

My question is because I took the picture and edited etc, do I have the rights to sell the picture to people who would like a copy?

In a word? Yes :D You took it, you do whatever you want with it :p

Yep! There are only a few exceptions to the rule, one or 2 places in London (where the image of the building is copyrighted or something strange like that ), and photos of people I think. I stick to animals personally, they're much less likely to sue! :D

I met a rather well educated kingfisher once.... :bonk:

Yes, basically true. The 'Author' owns the work. The only common exception is if the picture is taken in connection with your employed work, in which case the Rights belong to your employer.

Copyright can be extremely complicated (but it's not usually) and it's quite possible that several people might also have automatic Rights to an image. For example, somebody who significantly changes the image for you in Photoshop could have Rights to that element of it.

I recently had a guy do a lot of Photoshopping work for me, and I got the Rights to his work assigned to me as part of the deal.

Richard.

Have the same issue with a print that someone wants from me ?

think that i am going to charge cost of print + frame + 25% for time & effort. Think that this is fair as its for private use. Will of course put a discreet watermark on it just to protect my work.

cool fantastic

Just I know as soon as get another copy done. someone else will want one.

cheers
