Does anybody have any experience of selling cars online? Ive posted on Gumtree and Facebook messenger at what I think is a very good price (cheaper than any comparable I can find on auto trader or gumtree) and not getting a bite at all.
Ive shared to a load of Facebook car sales groups and keep reposting on gumtree so the listing gets refreshed but nothing at all!
Car is a 2016 Audi A6 avant, 190 PS diesel, auto, 45k, fsh, very good condition for £15,499. Ive searched on Autotrader (link to my search results) and the closest car to mine in spec and mileage is £17500. The only ones cheaper are either Cat N or much higher mileage (>85).
Mods - I hope you dont mind this post. It is unlikely I'll be finding a seller here and am genuinely looking for help! Hope to sell the car soonish so I can hunt for a camper over the winter.

Have lots of good quality photos, give a good explanation of the car - extras, good points, honest about wear and tear, FSH and all that...

Personally Gumtree in particular (maybe FB too) may be the wrong place to advertise a £15k car. I know people will look on these sites but I have found cheaper things sell better on there (cars too). I did sell a car on one of those sites but that was 1k.

If I was looking for a 15k car (aside from dealers) I guess auto-trader would be my main place to look. Lots of choice, can compare specs and prices and if your paying to advertise on there are probably more serious. Would I look on Gumtree or FB, probably not.

Seriously
have you tried we buy any car.?.
I got a great deal for my Citroen c4

There's buying sites that might be interested. Car Wow and Motorway spring to mind.

If it's a one owner car then https://www.webuynicecars.co.uk/ might also be interested as they go after low owner low mileage and well specced cars.

I sold a car recently
TLDR: If you want to sell it quicker, have the highest website offer ready and talk to your local dealers.

Depending on your location, if the car is ULEZ compliant, say it, it should get a lot of interest. The car I was selling wasn't, so about 90% of enquiry ended after that single response.

Your advert could also use a bit more detail: what features or optional extras are there?
I believe under the boot floor or under the spare wheel, there is usually a sticker full of 3 character codes, this details vehicle configuration, and you can then use de-coder to figure out what options have been fitted:

I've sold hundreds of things on gumtree both expensive stuff and cheap stuff, I do it for relatives as well. You will sell anything if the price is right, the description is spot on including every fault as well, but most of all lot's of high quality photo's. I always put strictly 'No offers' but you will still get offers but only from serious people.

Whenever I sell online I post recorded delivery... best to be safe .

hahaha Sorry ....

Try Motorway.

Yep. I wanted to sell my Honda. I didn't fancy timewasters and crimmos so looked online. WBAC offered me like 4k (and still email me about a better price on my "Vauxhall"). I advertised on Motorway - they estimated 6.5k. The app is really a PITA to use (it takes pictures just after you press the shutter - usually once you have moved the camera....) and half the pictures needed retaking. They were also very fussy about the description. It sold in a day for £8,500 which is roughly what they go for on Autotrader.

As it happened, I couldn't go through with the sale but when I can, I'll use Motorway.
