Hi guys, just testing out a lighting set up for a shoot I want to do with a goalkeeper soon. Having to test out lighting on myself at the mo! What do you reckon to the lighting? I haven't retouched this at all apart from just painting out some of the background roughly and adding a bit of contrast to the face.

I like the lighting personally, the extra light on the left looks good too imo.

Could be sharper though.

I'm by no means an expert in lighting, but overall looks fine to me. I'd like to see a little more light on the underside of your arms. It does look OOF.

Thanks for the comments, everything I post onto this forum looks soft! It's perfectly sharp in reality though!

Just over sharpened it in PS but it now looks better when posted, I think?!

Much better. What was the lighting set up used?

4 lights in total.

2 firing from 45 degrees behind, up high angled down, coming in diagonally to give the rim light, modifiers were small dish reflectors.
1 fill from just beside camera on the right, modifier was a soft box.
1 firing from above the subjects head, just off to camera right, modifier was bounce back silver umbrella (would have used a beauty dish, but I don't have one.)

I first set up without the fill soft box, it gives a much more dramatic contrasty look and was pretty cool, but I wanted to be able to easy identify the subject so added the fill. Just enough to see the eyes as well, otherwise they can get very dark and start to look a bit too odd.
