Selecting point of focus in Post Production...

With the use of a plenoptic lens, you can literally point and shoot and then select what you want to be in focus (or not) later on during PP.

I wasn't sure where to put this topic but I thought here was as good as any?

I suspect the stumbling block with this is going to be that you'll need a new lens for it to work, and personally I can't see the quality matching some of the top quality glass thats around. Time will tell though.

It has been mentioned somewhere else (can't remember where right now but I'll look for the source later) that it'll be made in the form of an retro-fitting attachment, somewhat similar to a teleconverter as in it sits behind your current glass.

Looks like it could be useful on P&S cameras. Would be a bit concerned to put it on my L glass !!!

Is this like focus bracketing, but done in one shot? So the micro lenses focus at a different depths.

If so it sounds like a load of pants to me.
