Seeking some advice here!

After a many few years in IT industry doing mainly application programming, I would like to venture into web designing & development[Always enjoyed playing with design and colours using skins etc] but using .net mainly C# as I enjoy using it but don't have a commercial on the job experience.

Anyone out there has a piece of advise or two as to where to start if anyone may be doing similar stuff would be much appreciated.

Seriously though, what do you mean by web design & development? Gui's? distributed applications? graphics?

Its years since I did web stuff, but you'll get better advice if you clarify what you're looking at.

Hmmmmm. A combination of one or many I would say, that is GUI & Graphics not so much of distributed application. Apologies if sounding a bit vague hence the thread in the first place.

No problem with vague. But as I say there is a hell of a difference between front end/User interface design and back end stuff. Regret that my knowledge is mainly back end.

But I'm sure that various UI people will be along to offer advice.

Have you looked at flash/shockwave/silverlight etc? what about scripting/xml etc?
