Hi guy's n gals what would you recommend as a reasonable 2nd body used for Macro only, must be Nikon fitment and it will be a secondhand purchase as SWMBO would'nt understand the outlay for a new one:lol: Was thinking maybe a D60 or Fuji S5 if i can find 1 cheapy cheap, budget about £300 max
TIA

Could easily pick up a new D60 for £274.99 so sure you could find a secondhand one for £250.

D40? D70/s? You could get a new D40 with lens for around £220 (or a recon well under £200 by now, I'd imagine), flog the lens for, say £40 or so. That should keep 'er indoors 'appy ;)

Forgive my stupidity, but why do you need a second body for macro only? I'm just curious.

Hmm,

Could be he wants to mount it on a tripod, with focus rail, and doesn't want to take it off every time he want's to use it normally.

I have my D2X permanently attached to a 300 f2.8. mounted on a Wiberley/tripod, and poking out of a hole in the curtains. It would be a PITA to dismount it everytime I wanted to leave the house!!

Basically as above don't want the hassle, dismantling every time i want to do some macro stuff i can set up on tripod ect for £2-300 i think it might be worth hunting down a s/hand bargain:)just wondered if any bodies were better suited to macro work

i dont think bodies really matter with macro work. i presume its all in the lens at the end of the day. Maybe high ISO capability as you do start to lose a lot of light when close to a subject and you have stopped down the lens?

The D60 is very nice, its fab at high ISO anyhow and manual focus is a piece of cake due to the electronic rangefinder (a unique D60 feature not found on any other Nikon body)

All manually focused and handheld on my D60 (all ISO1600 IIRC)
