Sebastiao Salgado

He is a photographer I have admired for many years. Some of his images of mining were very moving. The suffering people were going through.

My personal belief is he is the best photographer this planet has ever seen, his work is just outstanding, I wish I had 1% of the talent he has for seeing an image and capturing it.

Couldn't agree more. The guy has long been a personal hero. For his subject matter and his sublime photographic skills.

Yep, he really is very good. And a stunning printer to boot (if he prints his own stuff, I'm just assuming). Some people even accuse him of beautifying suffering because his pictures are so good, though I think that's a bit naive personally.

Check out Marcus Bleasdale if you haven't already. Very similar to Salgado in a lot of ways, though maybe not quite the finesse.

Random fact of the day: Both used to be bankers (Salgado an economist for the World Bank, and Bleasdale a London Broker) before realising they were wasting their lives and needed to do something more useful. There's hope yet.

I went to an exhibition if another photographer in London and they also had some of Salgado's pics which I was more impressed by than the main exhibit.
