Do these work okay in a Canon 40d and which make should I go for?

These adapters come in two thicknesses: Type 1 which is the same as a standard CF card and Type 2 which is thicker. So check whether your camera can handle the thicker type and make sure you buy Type 1 if not.
 
If you can wait till tomorrow I've got one I used in my 40d which I'll be putting in the classified. At my parents today but heading home tomorrow.
 
I can't look in the for sale ads as it says I have to have 25 posts, how do I find out how many I've made?
