SD Card To Memory Stick On DVD Player

I'm currently trying to convert some footage I have videoed this year of my grandparent's 70th wedding anniversary in May. What makes it even more special is that a month after my grandad passed away in June making it the very last picture of him and recording of his voice. I have got a DVD player for cards and memory sticks but the files won't currently play despite showing up. I don't want to edit and make them all into 1 movie on memory stick to find out it's unable to play which I've got a laptop to do on.

What format are the files in? DVD players wont play MP4 or MPEG-4 the standard DVD format is MPEG-2, H. 222 or H. 262.
Try editing some other film you have to that format and see if the DVD player accepts them.
