I stuck a new Transcend Ultra-Speed 16GB SDHC (Class 6) Card into the camera yesterday.

Before using them I cleared the card with a low level (deep) format.

The images can be seen on the camera but when you take the card out and try to upload them to a computer ....nothing.

I have 2 x sd cards and when I realised I had a problem I tried the other card....same problem.

I have carried out the following :-
1) Tried to read the card on two other computers and an I mac. No joy.
2) used 3 different card readers.
3) selected the CF card to read at the same time as the sd card. There are images on the CF and the SD when in the camera but none on the sd when uploading to a PC.
4) carried out a normal and low format.....again.
5) selected both lock and unlock setting on the SD card when reading off the card in the pc
6) checked and double checked to ensure the card is unlocked when in the camera:D

Any advice please?

Thanks in advance.

Rory

I tried a non branded 16GB SD card and it would just not work. I would like to try a Sandisk one though. Do you know anyone with a MkIII that you could give the card to try out?

For what it's worth I have a 16GB Kingston BF card that no worky in the 1D III but works great in the 40D?

I'm guessing from your post, the computer at least SEES the SD card? I can't tell if you were formating the card in camera or computer -- try a format of the card on the computer. If it won't format it, it won't read it.... How old is the computer?

The I mac is 3 months old and the pc's i've tried it on range from 6 months to 4 years old.
One strange thing....All computers fail to recognise the cards so I'm starting to think that both of the new cards are up the swanny.

or
I've just been pondering over this and I'm wondering if I need a SDHC reader instead of just an SD reader??.....just a thought.

UPDATE

Now this is new to me. I have just spoken to the card suppliers and they have told me that SDHC is a relatively new format and that standard SD readers or computer fixed readers will not recognise SDHC cards.

OK so I need a new reader.....Problemo sorted I hope:shrug:

AND I found this

"SDHC cards use the same physical format as SD cards but cannot be used with standard SD host devices that do not comply with SDA Specifications Version 2.00. SDHC Host devices complying with the new SDA Version 2.00 can use standard SD Memory Cards and the new SDHC Memory Cards"

We live and learn.
