I have a Sony a7Riv with 2 x SD card slots- when one is full it automatically writes to the 2nd card - simple enough :)

I was out a day or so back and shot around 140 images ( to my recollection)

When I downloaded these to my PC I notice a few shots had not saved on either SD card ( I know this as one shot was a Kestrel in a tree and a large Dragonfly on the water plus a couple of a Curlew)

I do format the cards in camera before every outing

I'm slightly confused - can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks in advance

Perhaps your SD cards have reached the end of their lives.
I have now taken them out of camera and substituted new ones - will take the camera out later and give them a try :)

Thank you John

It's an odd one, I would have expected some visible corruption or half-image if it was a card fault, rather than just no image recorded - almost sounds like camera not writing to the card.

Are there missing file numbers in the day's sequence of shots?

Weird one usually if an SD card is getting near end of life it will corrupt rather than just not record images so you would expect to see images with lines across them etc.

If images are not being recorded you would expect an error message on the camera usually saying database error with Sony. Maybe there was and you just missed it @Lez325

Set it up so that the images are written to both cards and see if the problem persists (on both card).

Me too but the end result is- It was a PC error rather than a card error

No - when I actually found the images they were stored on my PC - but not in the Images folder I had set up - maybe I did something wrong during the download- I use an external card reader set up to save in " Images" folder - 30 of the images went to my external SSD

I agree Tommy it seems my PC decided for some reason to store 30 of the images to a different folder on my PC - I rarely check images in camera as shooting wildlife, I sometimes do not get the time

All sorted now- thank you for that suggestion
