Is there any form of screen protection available for Canon camera's? I managed to lightly scratch the screen of my new 400D at the weekend. :bonk:

I use the plastic self adhesive ones from ebay.

You haven't scratched the screen. You've scratched the cheap plastic protector that Canon thoughtfully put in front of the actual screen. I believe they're only about £10 to replace.

Actually I have quite a bit of experience with screen protectors having bought and tried numerous ones. I have now settled on the best ones in the market (in my opinion of course) which are called Invisible Shield. You can find them at www.zagg.com . You buy them in US dollars from the American website and shipping to Uk is free and is also quite fast (they are actually shipped in bulk to UK and are then posted out individually within UK). The cut outs are exact and once you learn how to fit them they work wondefully. The one for my Canon DSLR protects both the LCD screen and also the little display on the top of the camera. They are also brilliant for Ipods.
I know that I am now going a bit over the top on screen protectors so I had better say that I do not have any connection with the company! but their product is good.

I tried a DIGICOVER recently. Looks to be a very similar product to the Zagg one, it was excellent protection but gave the screen a very slight 'rainbow' effect which I found really annoying. It peeled off without leaving a residue though... which was a relief!

Is the zagg really invisible or does it affect the image in the same way?

I have had two different rigid covers on the nikons, Nikon original and an aftermarket one, and both were a bloody pain, when I wasn't accidently flicking them off or sliding them across the back of the camera, they provided a sort of 'haze' across the shot - not a problem if you are merely checking histograms, but useless for serious chimping :naughty:

Anyway, lets see what Zagg can do :suspect:

i got the glass one off ebay for my nikon and it fits great, no problems at all

I'm almost certain that the protector can't actually be removed - or at least not on my Canon 400D anyway. Anybody know if this is actually true? And if so how I go about replacing it??

I bought these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GGS-LCD-Scree...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Comes as a pair of surgical glass screens sized for both lcd screens.

Can be removed and re-applied with no mess as well.

Fit my D300 perfectly and they do them for many cameraas.

I use the D300 GGS ones as well and I couldn't fault them at all. They seem to be completely resistant to scratching. I now tend to clean the screen with anything at hand and am never worried about scratching it at all. Well worth the money imo.

I just got a delkin pop up shade for my canon 40D, it keeps my nose off the screen too! I did take off the flaps ***, pain in the bum lifting up each time to look at the shot. I like it.
