Scratches on screen

I have a point and shoot cannon camera. The screen has some scratches on it. Is there anything I can do to remove them? I was thinking toothpaste would work.

you will probably make it worse - as long as the screen is still viewable for reading menus histograms etc you will probably get used to the scratches

That will just make it worse.
Get a screen cover to stop it getting any worse.

As above, damage has been done, get a glass screen protector from http://www.protectionfilms24.com/?adwords=5&gclid=CI7PsqDyoM0CFbYW0wod-5oNaQ or eBay, won't even notice them then.

Displex works very well for light scratches but won't touch deep ones.
