Mine arrived this am, installed and working, gathering drill etc took as long as putting them up, what is everyone doing with the remote? Do you keep it upstairs, downstairs, not wanting to put it somewhere ‘safe’ and forget where.

I'm going to keep mine on top of the main alarm control panel under the stairs.

Wife asked if I was going to take down the original smoke detector outside the kitchen door, I told her no I need to know when the toast is ready, it's super sensitive, hot bread is enough to trigger it.

I found this an interesting read, it goes on later in the article about the Nest issues.

Makes no sense the nest does have a heat sensor.

I'm not up to speed on the Nest kit but I think the issue is with the batteries not being 10 year, sealed ones.

Just had the quote for supplying and fitting 3 Smoke alarms , 1 Heat sensor [ kitchen with gas cooker ] and 1 carbon monoxide alarm. Also the remote
/ switch thingie.

Total cost £593.38 !!

If you get the battery versions some are supplied with double sided tape for attaching to the ceiling, only need to be able to climb a chair?

Can't do it myself

I don’t know if the Fireguard one mentioned earlier is suitable but it attaches by 3M sticky pads to the ceiling — ie no drilling, plugging, screwing and twisting on so maybe you (or someone) could do that. It seems to be more expensive but not £600!

I’m wondering if one could use an extension of some king to place it on the ceiling. Haven’t given it much thought yet!
