I set up synctoy on my mums machine to just do an Echo of her user area to a 32GB USB drive for a quick and dirty back up after a drive failure gave me more work to fix than I wanted.

The only issue is now when the sync gets kicked off by Windows Scheduled Task it pops up the cmd window while it works.

Is there a way to hide this away, checking "Hidden" in the options pane when creating the task didn't seem to work.

This is on Windows 7 using SyncToy 2.1.

not that im aware of.

might be worth looking at allway sync, that runs in the tray and/or as a service.

Thanks Neil, will have a look.

This is nice run up for me as I plan to move from mac back to Windows with my next machine, mainly on value reasons.

Don't suppose you know of anything that does the time machine like historical incremental backups? Saved my butt a couple of times now.

Apologies i've just checked as I set mine up ages ago, you need to do it using a utility, google hstart

Excellent, will try that when I get 20 mins. A bit more googling shows a VBscript should be able to do it, but again couldn't make it work. My scriptfu is getting rusty it seems.

Probably not the suggestion you want, but after a few years of using SyncToy I switched to SyncBack and never looked... well, back :D

No any suggestion is good, I only used synctoy as it's what I was aware of as a Mac user for the last 4 years. I will be swapping back once funds make them selves known.
