Using Silverfast i want to scan in some rolls of Ektar 100 i took on my hols but theres no Ektar profile in the software. There is an Ektarpress Plus though so im not sure how close that is. Does anyone else scan that film? what profile do you use?

Cheers in advance

According to the Silverfast website there is a profile for Ektar (Kodak Professional Ektar 100), perhaps you need to update your software? What version are you using as I can't see any mention of Ektarpress Plus on the current online Silverfast list which applies to Silverfast 8 but there is one for Ekat as mentioned above.

I would be inclined to avoid the Ektarpress Plus profile though as it is from the earlier 1990's Ektar family which were very different films - quite neutral and designed for general picture taking rather than saturated, I have got a scan with a similar profile which looks nothing like a lab scan/print from the negative. If you've got it, try using the 'Kodak 100 UC' (ultra colour) profile which is a similar sort of film to Ektar, nice and saturated.

Yeah I think the Ektar profile is for their Version 8.

If your using NegFix then the best thing to do is get the nearest profile then go into the advanced bit and modify the curves etc to make a custom profile and save it. Bit of a pain to do but works.

ive got version 6.something.something and its defenitly not in the NegFix dropdowns.

Ive used Gold 100 for now which doesnt seem too bad. There seems to be a slight blue cast but i think thats more to do with under/over exposure with ektar more than the scanning. Ive read somewhere, probably here :) , that it has a blue cast if you get the exposure wrong.
