A lot smaller than the SB900 and therefore quite sort after secondhand. I think the SB900 is almost too big for anything below a D300s?

Check out the bit regarding CLS (Creative Lighting System).

From memory don't the D40, D40x & D60 NOT have CLS...... I might be wrong though. If they don't then you would need a commander.

FITP does two different length TTL cables which are pretty cheap.

D60 NOT have CLS

Oh, it doesn't? oh well then.

To retain TTL off-camera, like others have said, you'd need a TTL cable or an SU-800/SB-800/SB-900 on the camera to control the off-camera flashes - assuming the D60 doesn't have a commander mode.
