Saving files in CS3

Hi everyone

I am having a problem opening images I have saved as Jpegs after editing in CS3. I can open the images in CS3 again, but if I put them on a memory stick and transfer them to my PC, which is what the client will do, it will not read them. am I doing something wrong when saving in CS3?

Sorry forgot to say I am using a Mac
 
I've experienced a similar problem before with files that have been saved on Mac and then transferred or attempted to be opened on a PC.

I'm not sure why but when trying to open a .jpg it was opened as a .bmp or sometimes even a text file, the result looked like a huge list of hieroglyphics :cuckoo:

The remedy was to right click and select 'open with' or 'choose application to open file' and then pick CS3 etc to open the image.

Let us know how you get on, as a Mac user, personally I'd be quite interested to find out why PC's can have such trouble identifying jpgs and other files created on Mac too.
 
One thing that might give a clue to someone is that if I open the files in Aperture, edit in photoshop, save back to Aperture then export as Jpeg, all is well. I have no idea what is going on.

I have a 2005 imac and also a late 08 macbook pro unibody.

I've had some problems with mac's mail software and attachments before now too, thankfully this was resolved by turning the format to plain text as opposed to rich text.
Microsoft's outlook and also Mac's Mail can cause some conflicts with attachments being embedded into the mail.

This is not the case with simply opening jpeg images though.

I'll be watching the thread and looking forward to a possible remedy :thumbs:
 
Thanks to all who posted

it seems the problem lies in the fact that CS3 in combination with the Mac, labels the file with the source of the programme which created it, in this case Adobe Photoshop, so the file becomes an adobe photoshop jpeg. I have not managed to "cure' the problem but have discovered that I can change it to a normal jpeg by opening the file in preview and then saving it from there as a jpeg, effectively saving it twice. Apparently I am not alone as others have experienced the same issue.
