Using Canon FD 50mm on Panasonic Lumix G1
All photos to be at f1.8

Goodness me this is tricky!!! Blown highlight but took me ages. Hopefully by the 31st I will be a bit better!!!

Apart from just realising that it was shot at ISO 800 all other advice would be extremely appreciated!!!
 
Hi Sarah,

It's a great candid that's well composed. Did you forget you were on ISO 800? Is that why the highlights are blown?

Apart from that, it looks to me like the focus is on the teeth rather than the eyes, but considering it's a manual focus lens and you were at f1.8 it's still not a bad effort.

i am always doing stuff like that..shot a whole load on the wrong wb and had to go back and re do them ooops

Its a good opening shot and if we all improve within a month that can only be a good thing
 
Beautiful.

I have a similar image as a desktop wallpaper. Wonderful depth of field and colour.

Just goes to prove that "simple" works.

Hi, Sarah, that's very tough - all at f1.8! Good luck.

You have made a good start, but I agree with Ian's comment about the focus on the first one. Really tough to focus at 1.8.

I love the second one. Gorgeous colour and the focus is just right.

cracking deep colour and lovely shapes in that rose....
 
sarah..i was blown away by the red... love it. focus in the centre, blurring to the edges...good enough to eat...thats if i ate flowers... and that is if i was hungry maybe..anyhow.. onwards and upwards. :thumbs:
 
Gorgeous rose, I would just clone out the green in the bottom right corner.
 
Nice autumn colours.......Nothing distracting... nice shapes and framing...

super dooper Sarah. Only just realised you're shooting with a G1.. it must be the camera making these shots great eh? :D
