Sandisk UHS II in a Kingston UHS II ~ USB 3 reader.....warm after transfer, is this to be expected?

Hi all

I noticed for the first time using the Kingston reader (my other multi card one is a Sandisk and is a brick by comparison to the single SD Kingston) transfering appox 31GB to my PC that was nice and quick ~ approx. 2mins 15seconds....that both the reader and the SD card felt warm to the touch.

I wonder how common that is and has anyone else noticed the UHS II cards getting warm as a result of transferring the data

Yes - this is normal for fast memory cards. The cards get warm in the camera too when writing lots of data to them.

iirc one of my cameras (could be the d5) has a warning somewhere about the cards being hot to touch
