This one is for all the computer wizards out there - especially Mac users.

Over the past few months Safari on my iMac just keeps freezing up. One minute it can be working fine, the next minute I go to open a page and it just hangs. Forever. Although oddly a radio player keeps running...

I've found a fix, apparently if I delete a file in the cache folder it fixes the problem. But this involves quitting Safari and Mail. I haven't got time to waste doing this.

So my question really is:-

1) Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do about about it?
2) I think it's time to swap to a different browser. Can anyone recommend something better than Safari?

Many thanks,

Ryan

For alternative browsers try Opera or Vivaldi. Firefox is a bit bloated these days.

The things is that it is doing that for a reason. It is most likely waiting for some process to finish or a response to come back.

In these situations my first point of call is the log files. What is safari writing in the logs, what is it complaining about? I could a plugin or extension, perhaps can't access iCloud settings, some bookmarks stored on a remote folder? It could be many things and the logs should be clear on that.

With Google's position in the internet I usually find chrome is well supported and my usual choice.
