Looking for a bag that would fit a DSLR camera, mobile phone and other small pieces on a bike. Might have to be a saddle bag, but unsure if there are any large enough for what I want to use it for?

Any suggestions?

I, too, would suggest a smaller back pack type, rather than one affixed to the bike.

Rucksack?

Nope that won't do because I want it attached to the bike and not on my back.

Don't forget padding for the camera, it's quite bumpy on a bike and the vibration may cause damage.

Doesn't matter about padding because I don't go riding on any rough terrain.

Instead of a saddle bag, how about a handlebar bag?

I have one, but it's about time I bought a better bag, and I'd rather attach it to the seat/post. I may decide on a nadlebar type of bag that will attach there instead, but that means I would need a rear pannier.

The only times when I'll take a camera with me is when I'm in Scotland, but I may take it very occasionally back at home.

There is no way I'm going to use a rucksack so I'm not carrying any unnecessary weight on my back when cycling. There's just no need for one.

I'd get one of these: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-accessories/child-bike-trailers/halfords-double-buggy-child-bike-trailer?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Bike+Accessories-_-Child+Bike+Trailers-_-155393&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=lwrpll&istBid=tztx&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:868641114|agid:42483202303|tid:pla-329286736974|crid:203186066877|nw:g|rnd:10832938232642308451|dvc:t|adp:1o1|loc:9046337&gclid=CNnDvd-qjNUCFXIW0wodbWEPXA

Could probable fit a few pelican cases in there, a tent, enough water and food for a few days or even 2 children apparently also no weight on your back

Sorry, I don't have a real answer but this would be my choice if I had a bike but I'd have a camera bag and a child in it.

Hahaha. You think I would want one of those when I'm keeping the weight down? No comment.

I have the same question on a cycle forum and I have found my answer, so no need for anyone else to comment on my thread, unless there are some decent replies.

Sharing the sensible answer you got so that others with the same requirements can find it if they bother to do a forum search would be a nice thing to do.

I use one of these with something like this for when I commuted to work. Very versatile.

When I take a camera cycling I always use a small lowepro camera rucksack. The human body is a great shock absorber.

As far as I can see,all but one were sensible answers.
You asked for options in the OP for primarily carrying a camera , so people pointed out that, even with road riding, the vibrations from bike mounted storage could be an issue.
So you then change, to hardly ever carrying the camera, and not wanting to carry weight.
Whether it's on your person, or affixed to the bike, weight is weight, and you're still carrying it around on the move.

Maybe you were a bit clearer on your bike forum than here.
