Sad times for Vulcan XH558

This would be a huge loss. It is an awesome plane and it makes you feel really warm inside as it flies past, especially with its bomb doors open.

I know that at the moment with funds tight, it seems that it should be added to the Battle of Britain Memorial flight, and key aircraft kept for the country's heritage collection, renaming to Heritage Flight or something.

Surely adding a cold war Relic to a WWII commemoration devalues the whole point of the battle of Britain fly past?

It is sad it can't be kept flying, but from what I hear, the Directors of the Trust draw a huge salary...

The plane was local to me for a few years here in Leicestershire and its whole history of restoration has been touch and go. It's a great sight. Usually they do make the funding but I do wonder what overheads the company actually have. It seems to suck up an awful lot of money and does that go on salaries of the staff? Anyway, would be a real shame for it not to fly but its all about priorities. The country has loads of money but if it is in the wrong hands...

Always the same every year unfortunately.
I even had dealings with all the trust people to demonstrate a means of bringing in an income stream that would cover their annual costs, but the top people were not interested.

Sounds like so many similar things I have had dealings with in the past - the original founders neither are prepared to listen to others and take new ideas nor are prepared to step aside to let new blood pick up the colours and run with it.

It takes a lot of imagination and constant reinvention to keep a revenue stream going for a historic attraction!
