Rude or just funny?!

Hmmm I usually have quite a sick sense of humour but no I dont find this funny. Its just another shock jock looking for a little exposure and look he got it.

:plusone:

Looks like another douche of a no namer trying to make a name for himself. Unfortunately with the media attention, and indeed just us talking about it, he's succeeded.

Steve Penk was a bobbins dj in the late 90's here in Manchester on Key103 before making the move to TV. Tried to be the next big thing, the show was the equivalent of Harry Hill's TV Burp which ran for 1 series I think then he was dumped back into radioland. Thought he was god's gift to entertainment and this stunt shows what he's been like for the last 15 years :cuckoo:

My point of view is that if one wants to die doesnt have to do it on a busy motorway, railway or wherever it causes problems to the public, everyone has got some issues and being stuck in the jam doesnt help at all.
As for the Dj maybe he was seeking attention, maybe he was unluckly stuck in the traffic a few times already in similar circumstances :) even if, so what, i still think that by playing Jump he was funny.

If you've got a mental illness and were considering suicide by jumping from a motorway bridge, you wouldn't be saying 'no, don't think I'll do that as it'll cause all those commuters on the M60 problems.' Their ability to understand rational thoughts went south a long time ago. In the past, they would have been looked after by specialists but the government decided that 'care in the community' was better and cheaper by passing the costs onto the families. There was a hospital near us (Parkside in Macclesfield) which would have looked after people like this. It was demolished and lots of new expensive townhouses built on it.

Care in the Community my ****, more like abandoning those most at need.

Wow, your understanding and compassion knows no bounds.

Sorry :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Reminds me of the time I was at a local Social Club and there was a women there celebrating her 80th Birthday. Someone asked the DJ to play something appropriate and he played "Knockin On Heavens Door"

No it is not funny and I find your comments abhorrent

I would like to use more extreme language to express what I think of that DJ and your subsequent comments in this thread but I have respect for the other members of this forum so will refrain - for you though I have no respect at all

Not really funny, and rude is not really a word to describe the actual action taken by the person who requested it. I worked on the Clifton Suspension bridge in Bristol years ago. As some might well know this was a notorious place for people contemplating suicide. There was a notice on the bridge which read something along the lines of, if you are desperate and need advice then call the Samaritans. Somebody had wrote on it "nearest phone box is down on the portway" it was kind of humerous at the time but in reality it wasnt.

The guy is not paid to be compassionate and understanding and is under no compunction to be. Sure it was bad taste to play Jump but if you need to cast blame on someone let it be on the person who must have opened their car window and turned up the radio so that the jumper could hear it (that is if she even did hear it).

If the situation was as it sounded then playing a record will not have made a difference - end of.

The fact we live in such a PC world means that people like Steve Pink get noticed.... move on, ignore and he will disappear back in to obscurity where he needs to be. BTW I'm amazed its only minor injury's.... a distant family member did the same thing in the same area about 3 years ago - the result was far worse and only happened in the first place due to the total lack of support by the NHS in this area.

I think Keith's bigger problem is that somebody tried to take their life, and you're more bothered about being stuck in traffic. I think you need you weigh up how you value life, and ask how you'd feel if that woman was someone you knew.

I'm with Keith, the fact you think this is actually funny is reprehensible.

People who jump from bridges like this really annoy me, not that I'm a driver and get stuck in traffic and yes I did in the case of this woman but its the driver who is presented with a falling body that is unfair. Same thing for train drivers with people jumping in front of trains and what about those who have to clear the mess up. These people are totally selfish using others to take their lives I know someone who was unfortunate to hit a person who jumped from a bridge and it destroyed him so much so that he even attempted suicide himself.

But as for Steve Penk well thats what he does, tries to get laughs and get noticed and with us talking about it he has succeeded.
