Rudder's 52 - Week 2 - New.

oooh i really like the second one:-)

not too sure about the first one, focus wise...
(I know you meant it to be like that, but it just... doesn't work for me!!)

:plusone:

Like idea of first image but don't think it works - second is lovely!

nice idea, like the lighting on the 2nd one particularly.

First one doesn't quite work as well for me either.

The second one is really nice
I like the way the two shells on the first one are made to look like a background but definitely prefer the second shot. It has alot more thought :D Look forward to your week 2. You appear to be a bit 'out of the box'

Yep the second one is a great concept, maybe a touch softer light so you keep the texture but lose the hotspot..

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, to be honest I think the reason I posted the first picture was because I spent so long trying to get the composure right, as soon as I took the second picture I preferred it.

They were both taken on a shiny black a4 card using a £2 9 LED torch from Asda to light them.

Week 3 - Style

Style = Stile. I decided to play the Sounds-Like card for the theme this week.

I stopped off on the way home from work at a local spot where I knew there were stiles close enough to a parking space, luckily I keep a pair of wellies in the boot for occasions like this as the field was very muddy!

I took photo's of two stiles but as the other one was leading into woodland the photo looked very busy.

Hi Rudders, week two, i like, I'm not sure about the second bud, I personally think just a crop of the one would be a nice shot, I do like the water drops, and think it works

The third shot is a nice one, it's a shame about the gate, it does seem to draw the eye instead of the stile, probably because its shiny metal, I'm not too sure what you could do about it, though!
I do also like the moon in the shot.

This is one of the subjects I had thought about for this weeks challenge, as I struggled to find anything suitable.

agree with Dan above, good composition, like the moon in the shot, would have been better without the metal gate. The gate looks as if it possibly could have been closed so that it would not be behind the style, if that is possible it is something you may wish to try if a reshoot comes out of the bag in future weeks draws.

like it all the same

Simon.

Cheers for your feedback, I wasn't sure about the second flower behind especially because I couldn't find an angle I liked without losing part of it.

I'm annoyed about the gate, at the time I just didn't think to close it while I took the photo, if I go past again this week I may retake the picture.

Great set of pics Dave.

Week 1: overall I prefer the first one -the composition is really nice. If the focus was shaper this would be a great pic. For me the second one is a bit contrived, but I can see that's a minority opinion:).

Week 2: I love this pic. So delicate and subtle. I like having the second bud in the background. Lovely colours and focus. Water drops really add to it. A nice border would really set it off.

Week 3: Yes! I was hoping someone would do this. Nice landscape shot in itself and the moon adds interest. I agree that the metal gate detracts from the image.

Excellent start to the 52.
