I have a cheap all in one printer and the problem is that when i go to print an A4 print out of a picture it is rubbish when printed on proper photo paper (Gloss, 235gsm)! I have put the setting right in the printer and program but it prints out pixely!

I changed the ink, still the same. Cleaned the ink things, still the same.

Now, when i use ordinary, bog standard paper the print comes out fine!! lol

The printer is a cheap HP Deskjet 1050

I only want the prints for my course work, not to hang on the wall.

I am thinking of changing my printer anyway so can anyone recommend a decent one for around £60

Presuming you're printing a full size image, I can't think why an image of say 3000x2000 (or whatever size your camera outputs) would pixellate when printed at A4. The reason I asked about what you meant by ordinairy paper was beause copier paper is more absorbent than photo paper so you may not see any pixellation.

Have you ever sent images to an online printer such as DS Colour Labs or Photobox for printing?

Yes i have. Always got back nice prints.

Paper was ordinary printer paper.

Using bog standard 90gsm copier paper = relatively poor photo prints add that to your printer I'm not surprised they are rubbish

No, you got it wrong.

When i print on the photo gloss paper they turn out pixely and very much unsharp. When i print on the Tesco £5 printing paper they turn out great!!

I'm thinking that maybe your photo paper isn't injet photo paper (maybe laser?). The ink then tends to "puddle" as there's no coating on the paper for the ink to react with.

Been there ... done that :D

Just checked now and it says 'Inkjet' on it.

Been thinking of buying a better printer anyway. Need one that cam print with ipad too
