I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this so mods please feel free to move.
I've just bought a lens via ebay and the seller is going to post it tomorrow (Saturday) via RMSD.
Does anyone here work for Royail Mail, if so, do you know it items sent via RSMD on Saturday will be delivered on Tuesday or Wednesday?
The Royal Mail website states that items sent on Thursday via RMSD wont be delivered until Tuesday but I can't find an answer for items sent on Saturday.
I forgot that I will be out from 9am-1:30pm on Tuesday so I am hoping it will be delivered on Wednesday
 
If it is taken to the post office early enough (before 12 noon) it should get into the system and will be delivered on Tuesday. If it is taken later on the it's possible it will miss the collection from the PO and therefore not get into the system till Tuesday with Monday being a holiday, in this case it will be delivered on Wednesday.

It will be delivered on Tuesday.
RMSD is not guaranteed on Saturday unless you pay extra, although in reality most are delivered
 
If it's in Scotland and posted today you'll get it tomorrow
 
AIUI, if posted on Saturday it will be guaranteed for Wednesday delivery, but if posted early enough on the Saturday (between 11am-12 for most POs) might arrive on Tuesday.

Not true.
If it is posted before the collection time at the post office it will be delivered on Monday.
Most local POs shutdown at the time the collection is due. OK so sometimes it doesn't get
cleared at that time, but everything is taken to the main mail centres that day
 
Does that still apply on Easter Monday, Ingrid?

My local branches must work differently, all three have a significantly earlier cut off time (between 11 and 12) but only close at 1 at the earliest (one is actually open until 5pm and on the Sunday IIRC), and every parcel I've sent SD on the Saturday has had a Tuesday guarantee (with Monday being the next working day). The parcels do often arrive on the Monday though.

Perhaps it's different up here in the north east.

The tracking number will give you an idea when it will be delivered
 
Post offices are franchised, normally have shops fronting them down here.
They used to be tied to having the po counter opening at limited times, perhaps
that has changed now ?

Check the tracking code on Saturday, chances are it will have been delivered.
It's just not guaranteed on Saturday unless you pay extra but most are ;)

It's next working day. You wouldn't expect a parcel posted on Saturday to be delivered on Sunday, would you?

I think he means next working day in Scotland would have been the Friday, next working day in England would be the Tuesday and the PO staff didn't point this out.
 
Ah, fair enough. Serves them right for having funny Bank Holidays up there :p

You would have thought so!

As @Gremlin previously mentioned, in my experience most RMSD posted Fri are delivered by Saturday, its just not guaranteed :)
 
Going slightly off-track, I ordered a Bluray from the German Amazon sight on Thursday, free delivery and it got here this morning.:)
