In my never ending search to get fit the lazy way I've been looking at buying a rowing machine.

My question is, have any of you ever had one/got one and do you still use it after the first 'thrill' dies off? I don't want to go spending cash only to find it's going to be a 5 minute wonder.

Walk a mile a day to get the discipline down.

Then start stretching it after a week or two.

If you can't keep this up, then at least you havn't wasted money or not ending up with another piece of unused junk taking up space:shrug:

I already walk and climb stairs a fair bit every day, also walk the dog, also ride a bike though not as often as I should. All that is good for the legs and stamina but not overall fitness. I really want something that I can use inside when I want to, not having to worry about weather etc.

Well mine gets brought over from the shed to the conservatory at 6 month intervals and used twice.......stays in the conservatory for another 3 months and gets put back out in the shed!!

had mine in the bedroom for 12 months used about 12 times, now in the shed. Mind I do feel guilty about not using, one day I will start again............

So at least Jon had the use of it while he was held in a confined space? :naughty:

Let's hope JR sees this in time...

He will be honest about it...:rules:

I'd get a steeper/climber if it was going to be just one piece of apparatus. Great for building up strength and stamina and you can get a real good cardiac work out too by speeding up and increasing resistance.

I bought a treadmill which I used for about a month, then it got put in the garage and never re-surfaced until I moved house (then my ex took it with him). I'd say save your money and make the most of walks etc. Home exercise equipment always seems a good idea, but unless you are disciplined enough to actually use it, I wouldn't bother. I think the fact that you asked the question in the first place shows that it will probably be a 5 minute wonder.

That of course is an important point, I've used rowing machines at a local gym and enjoyed it but could never really afford the membership fees to make it count for anything.
