Yes
Yeah, there's no real point to this thread other than to profess my love for the above mentioned film. Shot a roll of 400s, and my god, I've never been so pleased with the tone and texture of anything I've taken on film before.
I cant wait to try the 80s I've got left in the fridge.
Fomapan400, however, I do not like at all.

Horses courses etc. I've got a box of Retro 100 35mm that I bought years ago and have used maybe half a dozen rolls. I feel it doesn't have the punch of Tri-x or the clarity of Acros or Pan F.

That said, I'm glad you've found your film, the one you love because now you can experiment to get the most from it as you have a known starting point. Something in still looking for.

I'll admit that I've not used Acros, tri-x, pan-f (Got a ton of pan 100 mind), but I suspect I wont find a film I like better, certainly not black and white. It even impressed me more than my beloved Delta.
I think it just suits the sort of photos I generally take.
Now to buy a load lol

I've shot quite a lot of Rollei film inc the 400 s and yes the results are pretty good though I've had as good if not better from RPX 400 as well as other brands such as Tri X.

If you're impressed by the results then perhaps the film is for you ......Stick with it and you may well find it becomes your "everyday" emulsion.

As for Fomopan ...Like yourself i could not get on with the 400 at all , the 100 classic by comparison was pretty good when i used it and unlike some folk, i never had big problems getting it onto developing spools.

I had tremendous problems getting the foma onto a reel, but I've had issues getting any film on that particular reel. I've got some 100 in the fridge to use, so maybe next weekend I'll have a wander with that and see what happens, though I suspect it wont wow me as much as rollei retro

Do you snip the corners to angles so as to help the film slide through the reel??...If not then try it .

In all honesty i may have a hiccup loading film 1 in 20 films and usually that is 35mm 36 exposure once it gets to the last third of the film.

Enjoy the 100 classic ...as you say you may be dissapointed if you go with a view of comparison with the Rollei but in it's own field, it's an ok film imo

Yeah, I've been snipping the corners for a while. The reel seems to just foul films all the time, so I've stopped using it, problem solved
