Big in the news today, if people are stupid enough to go to unlicensed premises and untrained operators, and then have problems should they then burden the NHS for remedial treatment? This is not new and risks are widely known and publicised, but it’s a growth industry, a fool and their money?

Should a smoker be allowed to use the NHS, or someone overweight, or who gets drunk?

Putting ones self in harms way isn't normally an obstacle.

Except that smokers and even drinkers at least pay a lot of tax on their vices that goes into HMG coffers to fund the NHS. People paying private practitioners for dodgy procedures aren';t even paying VAT on it I don't believe, so it's a lose-lose for the NHS. I think the NHS should set up private facilities for these fools, so that they both get proper services and pay into the NHS for the privilege.

Mind you, I think people should pay for the "Stop Smoking Clinics" etc they get free on the NHS. If they could afford to smoke, they can afford not to smoke.

I think it's sad that people seem to feel the need to "improve" their looks in this way, but when things go wrong for them then of course they should get the help they need from the NHS.

Medics, rescue workers, social workers and so on cannot be expected to judge who does or doesn't deserve their help, it's their role just to provide the help that people need.

Lindsey, leave me alone. Smoking is the only vice I have left . . .
:(

Aah, Garry, I write as an ex-smoker. There are times I miss it, but most of the time not. After giving up (which I did on my own using nicotine patches that I purchased myself, and cognitive behavioural therapy that I applied based on my own learned counselling skills), I developed asthma and had frequent chest infections. So much for fresh air. However I am glad I did it. My beef is that if someone can afford £12 for a pack of fags, they can afford a pack of nicotine patches and some self-help YouTube videos.
But Brazilian Butt Lifts? What happened to "does my bum look big in this"? Evidently it is now "does my bum look big enough in this"!

I think the most challenging circumstances for the NHS is when I hear about folks who return from overseas with problems following both cosmetic surgery and dental treatments. Over the past few years there have been a number of 'horror stories' reported with some resulting in life changing outcomes.

Yes, the finger can be pointed at those with self inflicted problems due to smoking and alcohol abuse (including drug abuse) but those who choose to have elective surgery on the cheap in offshore medical(?) facilities who return very ill with the unexpected(?) urgent need of NHS treatment are to a degree selfish in their desire to improve their appearances!

I've got a groom who goes to Turkey for his dental work. He's spent a few grand, but tells me he's saved about 8k on British prices. Having spent over a grand on a few fillings a couple of years ago I can believe it. Dont think I'd take the risk myself.

I know someone who spent several grand on teeth implants? in Turkey, he’s wasnt impressed when I asked him to wait till I slipped sunglasses on before letting him speak, when he smiles they’re so bright he can be seen from space, never mind it was his money and he’s happy.

I really can't understand these people who abuse their bodies and make themselves look awful
As said previously they willing do these things like butt lifts and when it goes wrong run too the NHS for treatment, If they have money for
These treatments they should be charged when it comes to saving their lives.
