Hi

I'm heading from Invenress on 24th may and have to be in Usk for a wedding (not mine) for the 30th. What i'm looking for is some good locations to photograph on the way down. I've a few ideas, but would love to hear of some great locations

I'll be camping and will have the dog with me, so kind of cuts out nature reserves. Although I could do with a lamb dinner on the way down

Itinery as it stands is, weather permitting.

24th - leave Inverness, Arrive Lakes
25th - Lakes
26th - Lakes/Leave for Peak District
27th - Peak District
28th - Peak District
29th - PEak District
30th - Arrive Usk, afternoon
31st - wedding
1st - Staying at parents.
2nd - Skomer  (Dog staying with Parents)
3rd - Skomer
4th - Return to parents and get decent nights kip.
5th - Brecon Beacons, more than likely waterfalls at Ystradfellte
6th - Gigrin Farm?
7th - Snowdon - The dogs final leg of the 3 hills challenge. :)
8th - Lake District?
9th - Arrive Inverness

The only thing that are really fixed are the wedding and the Skomer trip.

All locations ideas welcome, and I'll beheading down the west coast, although a trip into the peak district would be nice,as I've never been there.

Thanks

OK, decided to spent the bank holiday weekend in the Lakes and then head down to the peak district on the bank holiday monday for the remainder of the week.

Looking for locations and have a few ideas.

Try edale for your Peak District base.... Will update with name if the farm/camp site which allows dogs when able to, sounds like a great trip!

It's called coopers

Thanks for this, they look in a reasonably good place, so confirmed availablitly for the bank holiday monday through to the Thursday.

Campsite booked for lakes on Friday/Saturday night. Looks like the car for the Sunday night. My fault for booking so late.

I've been doing some home work on peak district locations and found a number of locations I'm looking into. The most will be the honeypot sites, but its my first visit, so lets see the park at its best. I don't know what will work at the end of May, so any hints tips will be appriciated.

Three Ships - Birchen Edge
Mam Tor
Middle Black Clough Waterfalls
Derwent/Ladyblower Dams
Derwent Edge
Scaleber Force
Millstone rocks, although no idea where to find them
Limestone Pavement - again no idea where to find.
Curbar Edge
Three Shires head waterfalls
Burbage Edge

I know I cannot cover these in the 3 days I have, but its ideas and locations in mind before I get there.

Three Ships - Birchen Edge - Late afternoon/early evening
Mam Tor - evening in the summer, but not the summit. Head down the ridge line
Derwent Edge - late afternoon/early evening IMO
Scaleber Force - not the Peak District. Yorkshire Dales
Millstone rocks - Millstone Edge ? Above Hathersage
Limestone Pavement - Very little in the Peak. Again, the Dales for this
Curbar Edge - Along with every other Tom, Dick and Harriet ;)
Three Shires head waterfalls - Early evening
Burbage Edge - Higger Tor is better. Burbage is best on winter afternoons

I think I'll add another point, what works at the end of may?

Climbing Snowdon and getting back down is going to take a good 6hrs so that's most of a day gone. And North Wales IMHO is far more Photogenic than the Peak District and would rather spend more time there.

Personally I'd concentrate on the Lakes and North Wales instead of the Peaks.

Posted my previous post, with out seeing this post and great help, thanks Chris.

Shows how good my geography is with asking for a few outside the Peak District. :bang::bang:

Hi James, I've been to the Lakes and North Wales before and wanted to go somewhere different for this trip. Hence the Peak District.

Snowdon's a good walk and I enjoy a good waak, which is one of my hobbies, hence the walk up. It'll also give me something different to do from the photography(Don't all shoot me down, I'll have spent the best part of 2 weeks on the road with the camera).

They're below Stanage Edge, which is also above Hathersage.

That'll be Curbar Edge. Say hello to Tom, Dick and Harriet while you're there ;)
