Considering that 20th Century Fox originally went spare when they viewed his artwork as they thought that audiences would find it too disturbing until Ridley Scott convinced them it was the right direction to go in! He also did all of the design work on the crashed ship, eggs etc as well. Quite an amazing and very original output.
Apparently Giger would get night terrors, and that was where he got his inspiration from for his artwork.

Sad he's gone.
