Hello, I just landed on this forum .. Hello everyone :)

I'm looking for a ringflash that fits my Canon 16-35mm ( that it should be like 82mm diameter ) but I didn't find anything big enough.

Can you help ?

Thank you
Mark :)

I already bought one of those and they are clearly visible through the lens.
They create a huge vignetting :confused:

This will fit:

Flashpoint RF-400 Ring Li-On 400ws Ringflash

I keep wondering why you need this? Are you trying to shoot macro with a wide angle lens? How do you plan to use this ring light and why do you feel that a ring light is necessary for what you are doing? These are typically used for macro (close-up high magnification) photography.

BTW, the Flashpoint RF-400 will only fit up to 67 mm lens filter threads.

According to their website, "The flash is extremely compact, lightweight and a breeze to use with any DSLR or Medium Format cameras equipped with lenses up to 3.5 inches in diameter." (88.9mm.)

The Flashpoint RF will cause serious vignetting on the 16-35 or any wide angle lens.

frankly no idea so you can skip my ramblings

what GN do you need?

82mm and 110 deg diagonal fov ? tricky.

not even sure if the nissin MF 18 with 82 adapter would do.

As well as the obvious vignetting problem, there is always a chance of glare/ backscatter into the lens ( had this ) and the weight of a large tube.

If I really needed a ring flash for a uwa for some reason ( rather than a pair of flashes hung at 180 either side of the lens )*** then I would look at v large ring dia flash/lights that you could put on a short enough rail attached to the tripod foot, centered on the lens axis so you could rack the flash head back from the front element to get you the lighting that you need. The Godox R1200 flash head is of this type - it may or may nor have large enough clearance. These are far more flexible, unloads the lens and far more expensive but if you need this .....

*** must be loads of stuff like this around as an alternative

If it is for close up rather than general use, then you will usually need good diffusion. For "general" direct use ( ie without diffusers or diffuser screens ) , you may want to check that you have a zoom head that can get a wide enough beam it e.g. my sb910 ( Nkon ) goes out to 17mm.

The Godox site is a useful resource to see what might be available - they make a hell of a lot of stuff.

One of these popup ring diffusers paired with a on camera flashgun may or may not work for you.
