I have just stumbled across a device called the RingFlash adaptor - has anyone any experience of using one? Is it as good as the test images suggest?

How's a bout a link mate? Is it the Rayflash version?

Yes - the RayFlash - will hunt out a link and post

hi, I have one for 580EX and it works a treat. I need to use it at 24mm setting with +1 1/3 to +2 EV compensation and it is really superb for most macro applications or as a beauty dish for portraits. They only issue is the use at 1:1 magnification for glossy bugs. I think it is a nice saving over the dedicated ring flash.

Wow! Fabulous images - what are the results like for portraits as this is what I would mainly want one for?

Cheers

I think for portraiture, it does work but don't expect too much.

If your lighting nice and close then it's deffo worth a look in.

Aren't these portraits, just of a different kind? :D

Nice pics daugirdas :)

I use one for both macro and portraits and I think it's excellent for both. For macro you can create a bit of shadow modelling by sticking card over parts of the light. And a big flash like a 580EX has enough power for portraits too. The only problem I have with it is that it's not very robust.

Plenty of sample pics on Flickr. Here's one I picked, entirely at random you understand, which shows that unique ringflash lighting/shadow effect rather well when you put subjects up against a wall http://www.flickr.com/photos/taweili/3509517911/in/pool-718898@N23/ :D
