hi all, i have 2 pt-04 receivers/triggers and a pt-04 transmitter

i have 5 flashes.

my ETTL METZ AF44
an old sunpack
old viv
old cobra
old jessops

i use 2 wireless, and sometimes have the metz on the camera, but there have been times when i have wanted more power from one of the sources.

my idea was to tape 2 together, the viv and cobra, and PC them together from the pt-04 trigger. BUT none of my flashes have PC ports for some reason.

so is there any way i can link them to trigger, short of buying another pt-04, they seem to have gone up alot in price, i got my last one for £5 now there all £15+

any ideas, thanks :naughty:

Get a PC to Hotshoe cord mate, i think they do them in most places. I got two off EBAY for about £5 each. The PT's will output to both the built in hotshoe and PC port at the same time. You may have to mess around with the setup to find which flash fires in which combination, i ended up trying about 4 different things before i got everything working. Also if you are shooting later in the day, you could try using Optical Slaves, they basically attatch to the bottom of the Flash Shoe and when they see another flah go off they trigger the one they are on. This gives you the option of shooting with more flashes in different places. But, be aware they can be a pain if there is too much ambient, i sometimes use a tinted clear acetate over the sensor, this darkens the ambient they receive, and helps them become a bit more reliable. Hope this helps:thumbs:

hey dude.

i have jsut been having a play, on the PT as you say there is a shoe adapter and a pc port, you say they both trigger together, were talking about the receiver yes ?

i have the small cable that has a headphone jack on one end, ive jsut spent 30 mins trying to make it fire my flash, using wire and foil. the flash only has one connection, so i cant figure out why touching the cable from receiver PC on the flash isnt firing it, surely its the same as using a hot shoe adapter. it looks it from an logical POV

ahhh ha, i found the earthing point on the flash.

never mind that, my cobra has a 2.5mm jack, and i have a 2.5-3.5mm adapter. and a pc-3.5mm cable :D

winnar :D

Confused yourself there didn't you:lol:

I use the PC to hotshoe cables i mentioned to fire an extra flash. I have not had any issues, but it did take me a while to figure out which of my flashes would fire with them, and in which configuration, some will fire with one flash but not another, some will only fire from the hotshoe, and some from only the PC. It can be a pain in the backside but worth it in the end as you can get that extra bit of power:thumbs:

yer i use my cobra as the slave to the slave(viv):bonk:

so now when the viv is on the tripod ill jsut duct tape the cobra to it, i could be really clever and make a 2 way flash bracket for the tripod

I made a flash bracket the other day from a piece of U shaped plastic i found in one of the units at work. I drilled some holes out of it, and it can now fit upto 4 flashes at a time including 2 R/X units. It works pretty well too, i can mount it on my tripod using the camera plate for extra rigidty. I tested it the other day, and could see four spots for about two hours after:lol::lol:
