I really can't believe they drove through Cheddar Gorge with the camera on that pole attached with cable ties and duct tape [emoji44]

Can't watch the video as on mobile but here's two things to think off with cheap rigs.
Damage to the vehicle and damage to the camera kit. Both could be very expensive.

I saw this video yesterday too, no way I'd be using cable ties to secure my kit to any car. I'm pricing up a DIY rig at the moment and the only part I'm stuggling with is the boom/pole itself.

I'm going to go for the Manfrotto F1000/Avenger Pump suction mounts, Manfrotto super clamps and I'll use the Manfrotto tripod ball head that I already have for the camera mount. The metal store sell aluminium tubes and connectors which aren't tool-free for connecting the 1 metre section together but do come in at cost of just £40 incl delivery for the pipes and connectors.

Total cost is £225 for the 2 suction clamps, 3 super clamps, the boom sections and joints but using the tripod ball head that I already own.

Any other suggestons for a pole/boom?
