Yes
Bought another camera off fleabay, mainly for the lens. Again, the camera is in great nick but for some reason it only fires on X and B and no other shutter speed. The mirror stays up on all the other speeds. Thoughts?

Tried both. Thought about using the camera at the fixed speed of X and film with a low ISO.
erm it's usually battery problem e.g. Olympus......next you can take the bottom plate off (easy) and with a needle CAREFULLY poke around to see if anything has jammed, although if it works on X it does seem the electronics are the problem....maybe a dry joint somewhere.

I hate to see a camera "die" if it can be repaired. My pocket says it's a waste of money, just find one in better condition. My heart says, "Save it!"

I've just dug out my KR-10 super and it works on X but not any other speeds, so put new batteries in and everything works...so check again that the battery terminals are clean. Also check the batteries are the right way round i.e. positive facing you in the holder.

Will do.

@excalibur2 Thanks for sticking with me and I'm glad to report that "we've" got it going. Tried quite a few new batteries that I have and no success. Time for a different approach then.
Hopefully I can explain the weird events in the correct order and fairly easy to understand.
!. Tried new batteries. No success.
2. Cleaned contacts. No success.
3. Took a battery holder and batteries from my Yashica FX D and put them in the RICOH, the fit isn't brilliant ... SUCCESS, everything on the RICOH now works.
4. Put the holder and batteries that were in the Ricoh into the Yashica, expectations were ... it wouldn't work. SUCCESS, it does.
5. Reversed them and the Ricoh wouldn't work again.
Totally weird and no idea why or how this can happen.
Exactly the same make of batteries. Saved me having to choose between repair or despair.

A bit confused by above post and not sure what the problem was/is (must be me ) anyway glad you got the Ricoh working and (just my opinion) prefer it to the Pentax me super which has a fiddly dial for setting auto/manual etc...and just AAMOI my choice for a cheap camera for Pentax lenses would be the Chinon CP-7M but have no idea how long term its reliabilty is because how you set M and auto etc. bought it about 10 years ago and I'll have to dig it out to see if it still works.
edit : Just put 4 AA batteries in and the CP-7M still works (y)

Re problem: Ricoh only worked on X and B - manual. Tried numerous new batteries. Exchanged battery holders with Yashica and everything worked, The battery holder and batteries from the Ricoh that wouldn't work in the Ricoh WORK when put in the Yashica.

Guessing:- Maybe the Yashica holder is slightly longer reaching the Ricoh's spring terminal?.... and the shorter? Ricoh holder can reach the Yashica's terminal because it's terminal spring is higher? Anyway if the terminal spring in the Richoh is shorter/squashed (although you can use aluminium foil in the holder).........I wouldn't bother as you have two cameras working (y)
