I found this machine whilst looking for an old tractor amongst the brambles in a field near where i work, not sure exactly what the machine did, but I think it was something to do with spuds. The part in the pic is the drive for a bigger sproket that then turns a kind of conveyor chain.
There were all kinds of old bits of machinary in the brambles and it turned into quite an interesting trip, but unfortunatly the daylight ran out before I got time to take many pics, altho I did find a second tractor!

No idea what that is either
But I like it!

A great find for this week's theme and very nicely composed. I like the feeling of perspective with the chain and your use of DoF has really enhanced it. Lovely rusty textures in it too

Shame that the sky wasn't a bit better in the background, but you can't have everything and there are some things that you can't do anything about.

Yeah - interesting shot - I like the perspective and dof. I'd have been tempted to saturate the colours slightly to give more punch.

I agree. Either up the saturation of turn it into a moody high contrast mono piece. Love the composition though.

Thanks. I tried alterring the contrast and saturation to try and make it pop a bit, but couldn't get it to look right, so left it in its unaltered state.

Nice composition think it works well as it is with the rust colour on the metal adding to the picture :)

Very nice. Bang on theme.

I would like to see a mono conversion, think it would work well.

I like that, well spotted and good composition. I like the rusty tones and think maybe a bit more saturation could bring it out even more :)

After reading your comments, I've tried alterring it a little.

First attempt is to give it a bit more contrast and try to make the rust come to life a bit more. Not sure whether I've acually acheived this, but thats where you guys come in :)

Second attempt is to go with the monotone style, I quite like this, but think maybe I went a little too dark with it?

Nothing wrong with the monotone treatment there. Adds a lot of character to the subject. Certainly not too dark and if anything maybe just needs a tad more contrast :)
