Hi peeps thought i would ask as you are a helpful bunch if any of you have tips for photography in richmond park. Specifically deer and greenery shots, such as which part if the park is best, how early can you get in in foot, is it better to just drive there or go in before the gates open. And any other tips you may have would be gratefully received.

Thanks :)

Well, for a start Richmond is a Royal Park and I think you need permission to shoot...

Not if it's for fun.

It's a while since I lived near there, but you could reliably find red deer most mornings on the rugby pitch at the Roehampton end (shown on maps as a polo field to make them seem even posher).

Isabella Plantation is generally nice and if it's very cold then the Penn Ponds are great.

IIRC the pedestrian and vehicle gates open at the same times. Though I've heard of people climbing in earlier ;) The parks police are pretty active.

what Mr Ryan said. The only rouble I think with the Rugby/Polo pitches are they're right by the road so stuffy gets scared off early and not the best backdrops on the park
