Anyone know much about these?

http://www.revo-digital.com/index.php

I'm not looking to use them, but I was intrigued as they appear to be advertising pretty heavily through Amazon and the prices are very low for quite a few items I've checked out. Around 20% cheaper than average so presumably grey.

Oddly, they appear to be quite difficult to research, hardly anything online (user reviews etc) about them.

A few interesting quotes from their site...

"We 100% guarantee you will not pay any import tax charges"

So not even suggesting they may need to refund you, but saying you will not pay any charge full stop.

and in relation to the warranty, something I've not seen explicitly mentioned before...

"Revo-Digital.com does not cover...Focusing issue of 3rd party lenses"

Very Interested to hear if anyone has had any experience with this company... They have the Bigma for £594

And a 5D3 for less than £2000.

A couple of observations:

- the domain name was first registered on 23 July 2011 and all contact details are withheld

- the name is reminiscent of DigitalRev. Are they trying to get business from anyone who thinks the two are one and the same?

- the prices are similar to Panamoz's before Panamoz went expensive. Are we looking at Panamoz in a new guise?

- Google appears to have nothing to report

For all of the above, they won't be getting any of my hard earned any time soon.

the total lack of contact detasils isnt reassuring - not even an hK address

.

its also simliar to revo - who make digital radios , but who arent related

Just wanted to let all know that my 70-200mm 2.8 vrii arrived quickly and efficiently was trackable en route and is exactly the same as what you would get from somewhere on Oxford Street, only 500£+ cheaper. As for the warranty its a pro Nikon lens im pretty sure that the quality is going to be good.

Right, so you've registered on the forum solely to talk about this website... It doesn't look like you have any association with Revo-Digital at all ;).

Reminds me of my other favourite thread:

I love how consistently obvious those sorts of posts are, brilliant.

Yes that's exactly why I joined! I was obviously dubious about this website because of just how much cheaper it was and to be honest I was bricking it slightly after making the payment, but I used PayPal so I had some protection if it did all go tots up (even though Revo offer an extra 5% off if you pay by bank transfer, which I will consider next time).

I don't care if you believe me or not I just didn't want other people not to be as scared as I was.
It is grey so don't buy a phone and expect it to be in English but a pro lens is a pro lens wherever it comes from.
You guys make me laugh, here I am trying to help, and that's what I get. PIZZ Off, go buy it at John Lewis :)

Out of interest, can you give us some details on the packaging? I'm talking specifically in terms of the customs declaration that will have been affixed to the parcel. Was the the correct type of item and value declared?

I'm just wondering how they guarantee no import charges, as a previous customer I guess you could help us out with this?

Yeah it was down as costing ** $ obv but why do you care? I know I don't, like I said I saved over 500 £

Why do I care? Call me cautious but I like to use companies that have relatively transparent business practices. If as you suggest parcels are not labelled correctly, that's actually the responsibility of the importer (i.e. me and you), point 5 here is brilliant, by the way. Add to that a website that doesn't supply proper contact details, is very, very vague about where they are based and makes no mention of where the goods are sourced.

You say a pro lens is a pro lens, in that case a pro would probably like the VAT number (all items clearly state VAT is paid), was this supplied on the sales invoice?

No I can't claim vat back but im still saving a lot of money you do the math...
