To paraphrase John Lennon: Another year over and what have you done? Well, quite a lot going by the excellent photography we have seen on Talk Photography over the last 12 months. The end of the year always seems like a good time to take stock and appreciate what we have achieved in the year, for TP it has been a steady year in terms of number of users and we really appreciate all the excellent content that our member provide including great photography and high quality advice from our members' real world experience.

We have collected together some photos that caught our eye over the year and these are linked below. This is by no means meant to be a comprehensive list, you all provide us with more high quality content than we can possibly keep track of so please feel free to use this thread to give a shout-out to someone whose photos you enjoy or who has given you help and advice.

We have also rounded up a few facts and figures, @woof woof has too much time on his hands and @G.K.Jnr. is a popular chap

Congratulations to @Gav-canon for most improved and being such an active contributor.

Well done and thank you to everyone who stepped up and ran a challenge or competition during the year including @gerards artzone for the best from 2021 challenge, @Harlequin565 and @Mr Perceptive for running the zine swap, @dmb for the FFFSFA (Fixed Focus, Fixed Speed, Fixed Aperture) challenge and @Baloo for the nifty-fifty challenge.

On a less upbeat note there are ASBO's to @imattersuk and @mex for getting themselves reported 5 times each and being joint chiefs PITA

And finally a big thank you to everyone who has contributed throughout the year, there is just too much great work being displayed on here for us ever to do it justice in a quick summary.

Happy 2023 and keep up the good work.

What a fascinating summary of the last year on TP. I missed a big chunk of it so really appreciate the variety of images shared above (and am thrilled to have had an image selected!). This is a great community and huge thanks are due to the owners and mods for making it such an inclusive and friendly place to share images, ideas and knowledge :clap:

So sorry I missed this, I've had the stuffing knocked out of me with a chest infection for a while now.. anyway..

Thank you for the mention, really appreciate it!

Thank you to the Admin and Staff for great place to come, learn and share!

Thank you to the members who have chipped in to help me on my journey!

Happy New Year (y)

Thanks for featuring two of my photos.

In all the years I've been here, keeping to my little corner of TP, I had no idea you did a yearly review. I'll look out for it from now on.

And I agree with Ed and Andrea. Fantastic photos and a great place to be.

Congratulations to everyone.
There has been some excellent images posted throughout the whole of 2022.

Keep up the good work!

This is only the second one, its something we 3 introduced after we took over.
Staff, mods and admin, nominate images through the year, but most of the credit must go to T'other Chris @sirch for doing all the collating (y)

Just to echo everyone else - amazing to see the variety of work thats posted here on TP.

Even keeping track of things to come up with this post is a work in itself - basically we staff and the owners nominate anything that catches out eye throughout the entire year, then some poor soul gets to condense the hundreds of posts down into a month by month highlights - and snips out any of our ramblings, comments, and ideas for making it easier next time...

well done to Chris @sirch on the compiling - but mostly to everyone who's done something to be "mentioned in despatches" because in times when I wonder if it's all worthwhile being here, after hours of reading RTM's from the hot topics section, I'll get a reminder to go see the "2023 list" and realise why I do this...

And just to reiterate - this thread is just what we staff have picked up - if there's something stunning that we've missed - please feel free to go seek it back out, and post up a link.

I can only echo what my fellow Admins and Mods have said so eloquently. The quality of imagery submitted to the site is fantastic. Thanks to all of you for making this a place to be proud of.

A worthy reminder to all TPers that the owners, admins & mods are doing a great job and that the imagery contributions by all members are a significant part of what is keeping TP alive.

2023 here at TP looks very promising :)

Thanks Laurence :)
And indeed, keep posting your images folks (y)

I can only underline what everyone else has said, I've certainly enjoyed looking at various pic's that members have posted and gained numerous tips & inspiration from all the work submitted.

And of course all the hard work that goes into TP behind the scenes is very much appreciated.

So a "BIG THANK YOU" to everyone.

Brilliant stuff, just shows what fantastic work is being done with TP cameras up and down the country. :)

We have also rounded up a few facts and figures, @woof woof has too much time on his hands

It might look like I have too much time on my hands but believe me all is not as it seems.

To say that I'm stuck at home would seem too harsh and I am committed to what I'm doing and I do it out of love but the fact is that I'm tied to the house a lot as quite simply and sadly there's no one else willing to be here. Reading and posting here is an escape.

So thanks for the escapism.

I would like to thank all of the staff, they keep this place running so we can all enjoy it. Also this place would be nothing without all of the contributors, the experienced members who help the beginners and the beginners for asking the questions, the members that post their photos for the pleasure of sharing and those that are happy to receive feedback (critique).
I hope everyone has a great new year.

It was very much a tongue-in-cheek comment Alan and it's good to have such active contributors, all the best (y)

It's a lovely reminder of some of the images I've enjoyed this year and a chance also, to see those I've missed. Thanks to all the TP team for all the hard work and to all the members who have contributed to the forum over the past year.

An excellent selection from throughout the year - keep up the good work!

Well-chosen images, most entertaining. Inspires us all for the coming year.

Just a selection of some of the staggering images posted here. Shows what’s possible with skill, patience and opportunity. Unlikely I can ever replicate this (too impatient for one!), but certainly something to aspire towards! Well done everyone!

Thanks for the mention it is surprising but appreciated.

Fantastic review. Some amazing photos were selected some of which I hadn't seen as there is just so much activity.

The admins on this site really do make all the difference, big thanks from me.
