Reveni Labs spot meter anyone?

Only 5 days to go on Reveni Labs latest Kickstarter, a rather cunning tiny spot meter, see https://www.kickstarter.com/project...ot-meter-tiny-spot-meter-for-your-film-camera .

It's not cheap at CA$225, but it's way over-subscribed and so will definitely go ahead. Supposedly about £128, though I haven't checked. International postage CA$20. I'm tempted, even though I've already got a (bulky) Minolta spot meter! Presumably there would be VAT and probably duty and definitely an importer fee to pay on top of the cost, so I"m guessing closer to £200 in the hand. Gulp. That's maybe a bit too much for a "might be cool" purchase!

That 3D printed case looks a bit rustic, though. There were cheaper alternatives to the original Reveni (which was just a hotshoe averaging meter) on ebay in nice metal cases (V-201X).

I was very impressed by his "ruggedness test" video on KS. After dropping it from various heights with minimal damage, he ended up kicking it against a step for ages until it finally caved!

I think if you already have one it might not be worth it, I wouldnt if I had one. But as I dont its intresting. I use my phone for quick metering or if its a photo I really care about I have to take my a6000 which takes up a slot in my camera bag, having something that could be carried in your pocket is cool. Plus having just got a new iPhone I dont really like using it in places when one slip and its in mud, water or hits rocks. I wish it was closer to £100 though.
I like the intergration of Nick Carvers metering method but as you only get 10% off his course I dont think it would encourage most people to buy the meter and an expensive course, the average mode is probably all you need most of the time

À nice little meter not that it’s of interest rest to me personally.

What I struggle to take on boardare comments like :

´Doomo should give you correct exposure “in theory at least”.´

There is no such thing as ´Correct exposure!

Indeed for a perfect camera and film ISO, but for people using many old film cameras and not knowing what is accurate it's just a useful guide and you have to know when to use a spot meter on a subject compared to other exposure meters like incident and reflective or..... some guys here use commonsense\experience and use sunny 16 (or 12) which is free

Hello, the Reveni Labs Spot Meter has been doing the rounds on You Tube for a few weeks now and it appears to get some good reviews https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Reveni++spot+meter hopefully this link should return a list of the videos that have this meter.

Oh I am not going for it as I have a pile of stuff and meters and dont need another one to much GAS
