Okay, as some of you will know I bought a New Canon 5Dmk2 from Mifsuds on Wednesday, as they only had lits in stock, they opened a kit and took out the 24-105L lens and gave me the rest.

They normally sell the lens as NEW Unboxed at an increased price over the combined kit price.

After thinking about it last night I rang Mifsuds this morning and spoke to Matt and asked him how much extra the kit lens would cost me if I wanted to buy it.

He stated that they would do it for the same as the original combined price with me just paying the difference.

Quick 2 hour round trip and I know have it in my grubby hands.

Matt is a good lad, that's why they are usually my first port of call for kit, also helps being pretty close to here.

How are you liking the mkII?

It's identical to the one I had before although the firmware's different :p only taken 3 shots on it to date.

When I had a problem with my K-5 and it had to be returned I had to literally start quoting the sale of goods act to Matt before he would agree to refund the postage costs. First off he wanted me to send it direct to Johnsons for repair but I refused as I was under the impression it was best to deal direct with the seller.

The reason: I took advantage of a misprice where they had listed the K-5 twin lens kit at the single lens price and because of that he wasn't inclined to pay for the return. I thought it was just a special offer and saved approx £100 (didn't even want the kit lenses but it was cheaper to buy them).

Also took 7 weeks to get a new camera .. although to be fair the weather, Xmas post and no stock being available didn't help.

Can't say I was overly impressed.

I think the fact they honored the misprice shows they have good customer service, they didn't have to

I know someone that ordered a secondhand Nikon 300mm F/4 AFs from Mifsuds

when it came there was a letter of apology in the box stating they'd been unable to send the original lens as they'd found it had a fault which they hadn't noticed

so by way of apology they sent him a new one with 12 months Nikon warranty

Customer service like that is rare in these days of profit is king so well done Mifsuds

If you are going to quote me then please do so fully.

No, they didn't have to send it but the fact that they did doesn't mean they can try and back out of their legal obligations should there be a problem with the item in the future.
