I know, I know, we've been here before... but.....

Do I set the default in Adobe Raw Convertor (ACR) to 240 or 300. My intention is to convert the images make copies which I treat as 'best' ones to crop to any size a customer wants in the future. The 2nd set of images I then crop to 7x5 and send to Photobox for printing as the wedding proofs. (first time using Photobox).

The question is: Do I set the resolution at 300 and leave it or 240 and leave it? I am always confused with this.

Photobox print at 300dpi so that is the resolution to use for them. People like Peak Imaging print at 254dpi.

You should ideally match your image size and resolution to the printer you are going to use.

I set mine to 300dpi and haven't changed it. Most printers are 300dpi and its better to have too much than not enough.

Perfect! That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks GB.

Out of curiosity - what would happen if you had say 300 and it should be 240 or 254dpi as you mentioned?

Aw JonnyR, you beat me to it. Thanks.

It shouldn't make any difference at all. It's more important when you don't have enough resolution - ie trying to print a 72dpi image on a 250dpi printer - but even then it depends on how big you are printing it.
