Resizing destroying images

Hello. Ive edited a few photos now and they look fine. I upload them to flickr and they go very dark in some areas and one of my images doesn't even look in focus on flickr but on my pc its fine. I resize all my images to a width of 1000 for uploading to the internet. Any advice to prevent this horrible darkness?
 
Courious, I use flickr as a host for pics I put on here, if anything I find it adds sharpening, I haven't noticed and darkening.
Have you tried looking at flickr with a different browser or computer, it might be a profile issue.
 
are you viewing it at full size on flickr or at a size it puts it at ?????
 
it could be 1 of 3 things:

your web browser is not displaying the colour profiles correctly
you're using a wacky colour space like pro photo
graphical glitches- try it on another computer
