Just had a call from a 'nice young man' from the above titled place, telling me that I can have a free survey and likely discounts on replacing my old loft insulation. I strongly suspect this to be a scam call - the caller talked about 'most houses in my area' having had new insulation, but didn't know where I was. I cannot find an organisation called the Residential Green Standards Centre online (apparently it's in North London) and it appears there have been many scams previously relating to loft insulation.

The chap who arranges inspections is due to call me back apparently. Declination will be the only way forwards I suspect.

May be not so much a "Scam" as desperately touting for business. Never herd of them. If you want it done, ask friends for recommendations.

We haven't had such calls for ages. Though during the period when the Government were offering grants for loft & wall insulation we had a goodly number.

Having said that, on the few times when I (Inadvertently) answered such offer calls......I tell them (if I have some time idle away) to write to me, as of course as they called me, often asking by surname, they 'must' know where we live! But no they want the address, I say goodbye and to please remove the number from the calling list!

We've had a steady stream of leaflets thought the door and people at the door about two topics, insulation and boilers. As they all seem to mention grants I wondered if time was running out for them to sign people up, hence the number of leaflets and visits. Whatever. I agree with the above, if anyone wants it doing, get a recommendation or ask a company you've used before or know of locally.

At the moment here we’re get leaflets and junk mail regarding the Scottish governments new rules regarding smoke detectors etc that must/should be installed by February, I’ll do it when I’m ready and diy the job.

I did get a call back - from what appeared to be a legit firm. By that time I had decided the answer was no, and the guy apologised for bothering me and rang off.

Cold calls tend to be guilty until proven innocent these days (and I really couldn't find the original calling company).

They are still out there, just called me for the second time recently as they have clearly not removed my number from their list after my first refusal to tell them anything. Clearly a sales call trying to prey on vulnerable people.

I don't answer calls from unknown numbers and neither does my wife. Very few of these callers leave voicemail, if they do I'll listen then return or delete the call as appropriate.
